More On 1st Syawal

I dah balik dari Penang. Semalam balik.........hari ni ingat nak lepak-lepak je tapi my cousin from Taiping is coming over with her family so kena laa siap-siapkan apa yang patut.

In between the preparations , sempat upload pics and save them in my draft.......insya'allah dapat laa kot siapkan post ni.

Ni story mory continuation from after our Eid breakfast on 1st Syawal..........

Lepas makan pagi , set table balik. Tahun ni tak de biskut raya. Bukan tak de terus , beli tu memang beli tapi untuk makan dari masa bulan puasa lagi. So tahun ni , am following the Sarawak tradition , hidang kek kukus Sarawak penuh meja.

Ni pun sikit , I have 7 biji kek kukus je.....Kalau kat Sarawak ada yang lagi banyak kek yang dihidang atas meja. Memang penuh meja dengan kek.

Why the cakes are very close to my heart is because they're simply delicious. I have a sweet tooth so naturally the sometimes extremely sweet cakes is an all time favourite of mine. I ingat lagi masa I dok selalu pergi Sarawak *time active menyanyi dulu* , I've heard cake names like Kek Holiday Inn , Kek Proton Saga , Kek Isabella.......hehehe! Seriously , memang ada kek-kek ni kat Sarawak.

Kalau kaki kek Sarawak memang boleh detect kalau kek tu dibuat tak guna butter Golden Churn. In most kek kukus Sarawak these basic ingredients mesti ada.......susu pekat Cap Junjung , Horlicks & telur. Selalunya kek-kek ni akan dikukus between 2 hours sampai 8 jam depending on the cake that you are baking. Kalau disimpan betul-betul dalam fridge , kek-kek kukus ni boleh tahan sampai 3 bulan. Tu lah sikit sebanyak pasal kek kukus Sarawak yang I tahu.......


2 biji kek ni my girlfriend Dayang Suraya from Bintulu yang kasi. Yang belah kiri Kek Lapis Ice-Cream Prune & yang belah kanan Kek Lapis Datin Jane.

Previous years I selalu beli kek lapis Sarawak yang ada corak-corak & bunga-bunga bila dipotong. Tapi tahun ni memang I opted for the traditional kek kukus Sarawak. Yang belah kiri Kek Kukus Hati Pari or Sarawakians will say Hati Parik *memang authentic steamed Sarawak cake* , yang kanan Kek Madu Kemenyan.


Another classic is Kek Kukus Pilih Kasih on the left & Kek Buah Kukus on the right.


Another classic favourite........Kek Lumut Kukus. Sepatutnya lagi hijau tapi , colouring hijau yang selalu diguna dah kehabisan kata si pembuatnya.....


Malam I bawak Yna pergi rumah class teacher dia kat Bukit Antarabangsa ni. Sepatutnya pergi tengah hari tapi we went out & etc........penat......tidur.........Yang plate brown tu I bawak ke rumah cikgu Yna , jamahkan dia sikit.

Ramos had to leave sebab dia kerja today. Poor thing.......As for us , we're gonna have to do some packing after this. Leaving for Penang tomorrow.
