Dumb Cooking - This Is My Laksa Johor

As the tittle reads.........MY Laksa Johor,,,,,,,My LJ.....I don't care how traditional or authentic or original you prepare your LJ , I'm simply doing it my way. I have no worries with its taste because I love LJ and my comparison *taste wise* would be of my late MIL. Taste wise plus I have the ultimate LJ tester *my Johorean born partner* to taste my LJ at the end of the day. The last time I made LJ *1st time buat* , he said it's OK. An OK from MP is A++++ ,,,,,,hehehe! Kapish. So , if......my way of cooking LJ here is nothing near the way you prepare it,,,,,,,like I said again.....This Is My LJ.


Onions......I have to peel 12-16 shallots! No way! *Tak kuasa nak menangis sorang-sorang kat dapur ni* Kupas bawang besar pun dah pedih mata......So 4 bawang besar - belah 4 = 16 bawang kecik. Siap. Sila masuk dalam blender. Lupa nak snap pic ingredients lain yang kena kisar sekali dengan bawang. Cili kering *ikut suka how pedas you want your gravy to be* + lengkuas + serai + belacan + cili merah + kunyit....blend blend blend.....


Ni pun kena blend jugak , isi udang + udang kering + ikan kurau masin *I guna yang dalam botol* & of course isi ikan yang direbus. The best guna Ikan Parang like my MIL tapi.......kat Giant tak dak ikan parang. SO,,,,,,kes nak cepat.....I guna ikan kembong rebus Giant. I guna 10 ekor.


Dah blend.........semua seafood mix masuk ke dalam periuk.


Mixture spices pun masuk-kan dalam periuk sekali.


Next I masuk-kan daun kesom + asam keping + rempah serbuk kari ikan kering + serbuk cili + serbuk kunyit *for extra colouring*


Then........kacau sampai mendidih & add salt to taste. At this point I added sugar to my LJ gravy too. For added taste , I letak 4 packets of instant LJ paste to the gravy. Loads off kerisek too. Kacau kacau sampai spices & kerisek sebati.


Bila mendidih for the second round , add santan...................agak sendiri la ye bila kuah tu dah boleh angkat ke tak. Sekian bab kuah.


Part ni yang I sebenarnya al-malas nak buat LJ. Nak siang ekor taugeh , nak gulung & hiris timun , nak hiris bawang , nak cincang lobak asin , nak hiris daun kesum........kena buat sambal belacan lagi......Aiyoo.....!!! Setakat I anak beranak makan , semangkuk kecik ni dah cukup , tapi kalau untuk nak makan ramai-ramai.......mampus I nak buat ni semua sorang. Lobak asin tu dah selamat laa , sebab ada jual yang dah cincang,,,,,,,tu pun kena cari. Hok lain-lain tu......still kena hiris sendiri......that's why I remembered dulu masa I belum kahwin dengan MP , my MIL kalau buat LJ , dari awal pagi dia dah mula.......petang baru boleh makan. Belum lagi spaghetti tu nak kena buat cap-cap dia *Johorean's tahu laa apa cap ni* , I main hidang spaghetti cam tu je...........

Yna loves the Laksa Johor that I made.....and......I can say MP does like it too.



A note for me : This time it took me 3 hours! Why? Coz I kena kopek 1 kilo udang and kena kopek banyak bawang........dulu I bergantung fully pada pes LJ instant......

Dulu punya version here. Rasa sama je.....why? Coz I know what I want to taste in a laksa johor. That's the secret key to any cooking......*as per told by my BIL Kadir's Thailand chef*

    Thanks for sharing. Hmm nampak senang tp agak remeh esp bab penyediaan bahan..actually mmg tgh plan nak buat laksa johor...ni Kak Rima dah bgtau kat blog ni...mesti cuba buat jugak soon...
